About 1840 Cognac

Pierre Ferrand Original 1840 Cognac is a historical mixing spirit from Maison Ferrand. Produced in collaboration with David Wondrich, renowned drinks historian,
and Cellar Master Alexandre Gabriel, 1840 is a recreation of pre-phylloxera brandy. It’s aged in oak barrels for at least two years, just as most Cognac was in 1840. This spirit represents an attempt to recreate the kind of Cognac that pioneers of the bar such as Jerry Thomas, Harry Johnson and Leo Engel would have used in their Juleps Cocktails, Crustas and Punchers. Modelled on an impossibly rare 1840 bottle of Pinet Castillon Cognac, Pierre Ferrand employs nineteenth century blending techniques to create a Cognac that is rich, concentrated and highly mixable. Just like in the 1840s.
